Chlorophyll in photosynthesisChlorophyll a and b are both primary photosynthetic pigments within the primary reaction centr of the thylakoid membrane. They receive the absorbed light from the accessory pigments that reside at the anterior of the photosystem. The photon of light hits and the cascade of events commences. the primary pigments are green because they reflect green/yellow light and absorb other wavelengths of light which, in turn, are used to excite electrons that initiate the main stages of photosynthesis which occur throughout the thylakoid membrane.
